On May 19, 2026, the Head of the Department of Molecular and Medical Biophysics, Professor Volodymyr Berest, served as a speaker at Training Session No. 3, “Experience Exchange Session of Karazin University Lecturers,” within the online course “Google AI Tools for Karazin University Lecturers: Personalizing Student Learning,” organized in cooperation between Google for Education and Beetroot Academy.

The presentation “AI as a Bridge Between Theory and Practice: Using NotebookLM and Gemini for the Analysis of Spectroscopic Data and Scientific Publications” focused on the experience of implementing NotebookLM into the educational process of the faculty as an interactive textbook, enabling students to instantly receive answers regarding optimal substance concentrations and experimental parameters, as well as the use of Gemini for laboratory preparation, where students can model experiment designs and test their hypotheses before working with real equipment.

The presentation also included a case study on creating content for the support and development of the дистанційний course “Methods of Biophysical Research.” Using lecture notes and teaching materials of the discipline together with NotebookLM, a series of presentations and podcasts for the topics and modules of the course was created.

Overall, the goal of the course “Google AI Tools for Karazin University Lecturers: Personalizing Student Learning” was to help lecturers master artificial intelligence and make student learning more personalized, innovative, and effective. Each workshop was designed according to the principle “from a real problem to a ready-made solution,” allowing lecturers to immediately apply new skills in practice.

By completing the course, lecturers learned how to:

  • create a knowledge base for their discipline using NotebookLM and teach students how to use it safely;
  • develop a personal AI tutor for students in the Gemini Gems environment;
  • generate interactive educational materials using the Gemini Canvas tool.
