A researcher of the Department of Quantum Radiophysics, Oleh Hurin, has passed away…
With deep sorrow, we inform you that on November 23, 2025, at the age of 64, after a long illness,
Oleh Valentynovych Hurin, a researcher of the Department of Quantum Radiophysics,
passed away.
He began his career after graduating from school in 1978 at the Kharkiv Instrument-Making Plant
named after T.H. Shevchenko as a radio equipment fitter. In May 1979, O.V. Hurin was drafted
into the Soviet Army, serving in the Air Defense Forces. In 1981, after demobilization,
he joined Kharkiv State University named after O.M. Gorky as a senior laboratory assistant
at the Department of Quantum Radiophysics of the Faculty of Radiophysics. At the same time,
he enrolled in the evening program of the Faculty of Radiophysics. After graduation in 1987,
he worked as an engineer and junior researcher. Most recently, he held the position of researcher
at the Department of Quantum Radiophysics.
In his work, he always prioritized experimentation. He took part in the production of devices
and prototypes for experimental research, performed coating of reflectors for resonators
and laser radiation channeling systems.
He participated in the creation and research of a submillimeter laser magnetopolarimeter.
He conducted research on the formation of beams with uniform intensity distribution and the selection
of transverse modes in laser resonators, as well as studies on the influence of submillimeter radiation
on biological objects. He was a co-author of more than 50 scientific publications and 6 rationalization proposals.
Colleagues will remember him as a demanding but kind person who could support, advise, and inspire,
who was always devoted to his work and attentive to people.
