From 12 to 15 September 2016 in Odessa an international Multiconference IEEE Photonics Society for modern optoelectronics and lasers CAOL2016 was held. It included 2 conference:
1. The seventh conference «Advanced optoelectronics and lasers», Caol 2016 (first time was held in 2003, Alushta).
2. Thirteenth Conference «Laser and Fiber Optical Networks Modeling , LFNM 2016 (was found in 1999).

It was initiated by: the Ukrainian branch of the international association of photonics (IEEE Photonics Society), Institute of Physics, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the three National Universitys – V.N. Karazin Kharkov National University, Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics and I.I. Mechnikov Odessa National University.
In the organizing committee V.N. Karazin Kharkov National University was represented by Department of Quantum Radio Physics of school of physics, biomedical electronics and computer systems took part in conference organisation. Head of the department prof. Maslov V.A. was one of the organizing committee leaders.
Conference CAOL and LFNM are the official conferences of the International Association of technology experts, a global leader in the standards development for electronics, electrical and hardware computer systems IEEE Photonics Society and are listed on the cover page of the IEEE / PhS website. It can be confidently sayed, that CAOL / LFNM conference have a well-deserved international recognition.
Conference topics included the mathematical, physical and technical problems of modern laser physics, photonics and optics. Mostly represented areas were: lasers, semiconductor nano-engineered photonic crystals and nonlinear optics, as well as optical measurements and wave propagation in optical systems.

The conference program included over 130 papers (including – 8 reports, presented by Western experts on laser physics and optoelectronics). It was attended by a lot of leading experts from around the world – Great Britain, Spain, Italy, Japan, Canada, Belgium, Denmark, etc. The conference aroused interest among specialists from the former CIS countries (15 reports) and Ukraine (77 reports). Kharkov scientists presented 33 reports, 12 of which were presented by scientists from V.N. Karazin University.
When closing the conference, the words of gratitude were expressed to the management of the Institute of Physics National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics and I.I. Mechnikov Odessa National University for assistance in the conference organisation. In turn, the heads of the conference expressed gratitude to the members of the Organizing Committee Assoc. Degtyarev AV, Assoc. Levchenko OM,
